Captcha image accidentally makes bold political statement.
A concerned netizen attempting to fill out a Whitehouse.gov petition to block the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) claims he was greeted with this surprisingly frank Captcha image, which reads “hatesU Congress.” Considering SOPA has a large number of backers in Congress and is reportedly a huge threat to free speech on the web, this might be the most relevant Captcha ever spotted. Could the algorithm that generates these things be aware of the potential danger on the horizon? Should we be way more frightened that computer algorithms can enter political discourse than we are of anything else?
